August 4, 1939-October 9, 2006
David Tinkoff was a long-time member of the Ottawa Valley Bluegrass Association, a great mandolin player and a friend to everyone he met. Tragically, he was struck down by a car a number of years ago, never fully recovered, and eventually died as a result of the accident.
During his life he contributed much to the bluegrass community in Ottawa and even after his death, the sale of his precious mandolin generated a special fund for the Association.
The David Tinkoff Award is presented annually to person(s) who have made special contributions to the bluegrass community in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The David Tinkoff Concert and Award is held in January of each year. Check out our Winter Concerts Section for further details.
