Mon, January 16 - David Tinkoff Memorial Concert and award

(Sponsored by the OVBMA and The Ottawa Folklore Centre)

JAN PURCELL and PINE ROAD

DARWIN THOM with Peter & Nancy McGuire, Peter Dawson, Cyril Kelly & Bill Henry

For those new to the bluegrass community & to our friends in the Ottawa Folk Music Community, David Tinkoff was a long-time member of the Ottawa Valley Bluegrass Association (Valleygrass), a great mandolin player and a friend to everyone he met. Tragically, he was struck down by a car a number of years ago, never fully recovered, and eventually died as a result of the accident. During his life he contributed much and even after his death, the sale of his precious mandolin generated a special fund for the Association.

Each year in his honour, the Association holds a special concert where two awards are presented:
1) The David Tinkoff Award (to a person who has made a significant contribution to the bluegrass community in the Ottawa Valley), and
2) The David Tinkoff Scholarship for Instruction in Mandolin presented by The Ottawa Folklore Centre.
